This treatment will soften or often make the wrinkle disappear altogether. This is achieved through a series of precisely placed relatively painless injections that relax the facial musculature.

What is this product?

It is an injectable solution used to treat the dynamic fine lines and wrinkles, as well as spams that occcur in some people. It is a neurotoxin produced from a bacteria.

How does this anti-wrinkle treatment work?

It works by selectively and temporarily paralyzing the muscles into which it is injected. This is done by blocking signals from nerves to the muscle, so that the muscle can no longer contract. It is these contractions that cause the wrinkles. Therefore no contractions, less wrinkles.

Which areas can be treated with this procedure?

Wrinkles in the upper third of the face are the areas most commonly treated, even though we do treat other areas of the face. This means, then, that the frown areas (between the eyebrows), the lines around the eyes, and the horizontal forehead lines are the most commonly treated areas for facial rejuvenation with this anti-wrinkle procedure.

What is involved?

A medical history is taken to ensure that this procedure is safe for you. After determining which areas are to be treated, you will be asked to frown, raise your eyebrows, or squint your eyes, so that your facial musculature can be studied. The correct dosage for your muscles is then administered using a very fine needle.

The treatment is a very simple, walk in, walk out one and most people can return to their normal work or social activities immediately without any detectable swelling or suggestion that they have had "something done".

Will I see results immediately?

Results are not immediate. You will start to notice a difference in three to four days. The full effect can take up to ten to fourteen days.

How long will the results last?

The effects last most people close to four months, after which, re-treatment is required. This is because the nerve to muscle signal pathway has re-connected. The best time for re-treatment is when you notice the muscle is starting to move again. Repeat treatments may be able to slow the development of a deeper crease, and more invasive treatments at a later stage.

What are the side effects?

Temporary bruising is possible, and is minimized by avoiding aspirin-like products, Vitamin E, Gingko Bilinko, and Fish Oil for one week before injections. Alcohol is also best avoided for three days before, also to prevent bruising.

Some people find that mild headaches can occur the day of treatment.

Drooping of the eyelid is rare, and if this occurs, usually resolves within a few days.

Does it hurt?

We use extremely small special needles, so that discomfort is quite minimal for most people.

 Is it safe?
It is extremely safe. Allergic reactions are not a concern and there is no numbness of the overlying skin. It will not produce any internal side effects nor will it accumulate in your body with each injection.

What is the cost?

At Lip Logic we charge by how much product is used for you in each specific areas. Some people require a higher dose than others to achieve the desired result, and to attain a reasonable longevity. Just as an example, the most popular area to treat is the frown area. This area starts at around $320.

Are there any specific post treatment instructions?

Yes. We want only the specific muscles injected to 'take-up' the product. Therefore:

• Do not lay down for 4 hours

• No facials on the day of treatment

• No vigourous exercise on the day of treatment. Mild exercise is allowed four hours after treatment.

• No rubbing of the area that day.

We DO recommend using the muscles (ie frowning, squinting) during the first 1 ½ hours to help the muscles 'take-up' the product.
