What is it and how does this volumizing injectable product work?

This product, sometimes referred to as a 'non-surgical facelift', is a synthetic, biocompatiable material that is injected below the surface of the skin to correct the effects of fat and volume loss, and natural age-related bone loss. It stimulates the build up of the body's own collagen. Restoring the underlying foundation restores the structureand youthfulness of the face.

Why do we lose volume in our face?

As we age, our collagen quality and quantity diminshes. This lack of volume and support causes folds, wrinkles and hollowness to appear and give our face a sagging look.

What areas of the face can be treated?

Excellent results can be achieved in treating all parts of the face including the hollow areas around the eyes, between the mouth and nose, cheeks and neck. It adds volume to the cheeks, to folds around the chin and to the jowl areas.

Are there any pre-treatment recommendations?

To minimize bruising, we recommend stopping Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Gingko Bilobo, Aspirin, and abstaining from alcohol for a week.

How many treatments will be required?

It does depend on the individual. Sometimes patients are very happy with the results of one treatment. Often, though, patients need two or three treatments to gain the results that they want. The filling effect of dermal thickening is achieved by the stimulation of collagen formation and this takes time. The results of treatments may take 6 to 8 weeks to develop. At Lip Logic, we do a second session after 8 weeks. For some aesthetic patients, a third treatment may also be required.

How long will the results last?

The results will last up to two years once the desired filling has been achieved. Some patients like to have a maintainence treatment once every 12 to 18 months to maintain the original results.

Is the treatment session painful?

We use a topical anaesthetic cream that is really very effective. The product has local anaesthetic in it, and we can also use numbing injections if necessary. Most people do not find it too uncomfortable.

How long is my appointment?

We like you to have the numbing cream on for nearly an hour. Altogether, we like to allow about 11/2 hours.

What should I expect after the session?

Your face is massaged for about 10 minutes after the treatment to ensure
After the treatment it may appear that you have immediate results because some swelling will occur from the injections.
You may have some areas of bruising and tenderness, as well as some redness and needle marks. These side effects generally last on average 3 to 10 days. Ice packes may be applied.

Are there any other side effects?

The side effect that we are wanting to avoid is lumpiness. This is avoided by correct preparation of the product, accurate placement, and massage as instructed.

What do I do at home?

The results with this product are much better with facial massage. We suggest massaging your face (as we show you), for five minutes twice a day for two weeks. This helps to prevent lumps forming.

How does this treatment differ from dermal fillers?

Results are natural-looking and appear gradually over a few weeks time and can last up to two years or more because it causes the body to stimulate its own collagen. The results of most other fillers are immediate, and last 4 to 8 months.
