Sun Protection
Protecting your skin from the sun is the most important anti ageing measure that you can take. The effects of the sun are cumulative and you will not see the ill effects of sun damage until later in life.

  • Daily use of suncreen that blocks both UVA and UVB radiation. Ensure that enough is applied and apply frequently, especially if out in the sun. Only about 20% of sun damage ocurs lying on the beach. The other 80% happens walking to the shops, driving in the car, sitting beside a window. UVA rays are also emitted by fluorescent lights and computer screens. Please wear a sunscreen everyday! The damage caused to skin by years of sun exposure is called 'photo-ageing'
  • Wear a hat - it's simple but effective for keeping the sun off your face.
  • Consider sunglasses also - they help stop you from squinting while out in the sun and glare.
